Writing Prompt: Father's Day
A few weeks ago, we wrote about Mother’s Day. Now, it’s Father’s Day weekend. Father’s Day can be similarly complicated for people. For some, it can be a nice chance to appreciate dads or be appreciated as a dad… for others, it can be associated with pain and loss.
Either way, let's use father’s day as a chance to write!
Here are a few questions to consider:
🖊️📖 Write about your feelings about Father's Day. What does Father's Day mean to you?
🖊️📖 Write about your relationship with your father, father figure(s), or important male ancestors. What did you learn from your him/them? What do/did you admire about him? What are/were the challenges? What is/was he like as a person?
🖊️📖 If you yourself are a father, write about fatherhood. What have been some of the challenges? What do you cherish most about being a dad? What have you learned from fatherhood? How have you grown? How do/would you like to be honored on Father's Day?
🖊️📖 If you have experienced loss related to fatherhood, and/or have a difficult relationship with your father or fatherhood, write about that.
