Writing Prompt: Creative Expression
Creative expression feeds our souls, brings us to life, and helps us contact a little bit of vitality. Iβm convinced itβs a necessary component of mental health and self-care.
But creative expression takes time, energy, and focus, and sometimes it's hard to make it happen when life gets busy. The struggle is real!
Today, write about the types of creative expression you most enjoy, using these prompts as a starting place:
ππ There are many types of creative expression. Woodworking, painting, drawing, knitting, dance, writing, music, photography, scrapbooks, pottery... and so on. What types of creative expression appeal most to you? π¨ π πΉ π» π§Ά ππ πΊ
ππ What kinds of creative expression did you enjoy when you were younger? What creative expression do you imagine yourself doing after you retire?
ππ What narratives and labels have you internalized about yourself as a creative person? Are there any beliefs that get in the way of creative expression? Might you hold some of them lightly, in order to create more freely?
ππ What challenges get in the way of creative expression, for you? Do you struggle to find the time? If so, and it's important to you, what might need to change in order to give yourself the space to engage in the creative activities you enjoy?
